If you want to understand the insanity of extreme individualism, observe the ordinary.
Fifty families in a single apartment building.
Fifty separate internet contracts.
Fifty duplicated infrastructures layered over the same physical space.
If you think that this is inefficiency you are wrong. It is a configuration. A designed geometry of social relations.
What could be a shared node is decomposed into isolated units. Social coordination capacity is stripped out. Each unit is then reattached to the system individually through subscription. A one-to-one mapping of engineered relational disempowerment.
The result is structurally precise:
optionality is reduced at the collective level
dependency is increased at the individual level
extraction pathways multiply without increasing underlying capacity
What could function as a shared utility becomes a distributed surface for revenue capture. This is then named freedom. But within this configuration, freedom has been redefined. It is no longer the capacity to organise together, but the obligation to provision oneself in isolation.
Freedom, in structural terms, is the capacity to configure social relations.
Autonomy exists only where our chosen coordination — designed by us and to our benefit — can be reproduced.
Where coordination is decomposed, autonomy does not emerge. Rather, it is simulated… and billed monthly.
